"Just wanted to let you know that a while back I picked up a sheet of NewWood at Windsor Plywood. I was approached by a local golf course to see if I would consider refurbishing a couple of bird house projects that were donated to the club in memory of a member who passed. The bird condos were about 6 years old. My first look at these suggested they should be taken to the dump but I relented and started in on them. An ant family had taken up residence in one of the structures and when I started dismantling the base I had ants and ant eggs all over my work area. They were quickly dispatched in my shop vac. I did the best I could without starting from scratch. As you can see from the pictures I used "NewWood" for the bases so this should give them a little more life. I will check them from time to time to see how they are holding out. I suspect the upper parts will continue to decompose and I'm convinced the base will out last the rest of the structures. On one base I laminated two thicknesses by using construction glue and screws from the underside. The club said they would bring these inside before winter rains come and that should help to extend their life. "
These are nicely done! It is great that you were a refurbish the bird houses from the member of the golf course. It must have great sentimental values, and saving it prolongs the history it carries.
